The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Oakland County near the Oxford area.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Oakland County near the Oxford area. The warning was in effect until 12:30 a.m., the National Weather Service said.

The severe thunderstorm was moving east at 45 miles per hour and capable of producing heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour, the National Weather Service said.

The storm previously prompted meteorologists to issue a tornado warning near the Ortonville area at 11:30 p.m. Monday night. That warning expired at midnight, the National Weather Service said.
