'Wreaths Across America' Ceremony Comes to Rochester This Weekend

The ceremony honors military veterans by placing wreaths at their grave sites.

Guardian Angel Cemetery in Rochester will host a "Wreaths Across America" event at noon Saturday.

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony that began in 1992 at Arlington National Cemetery. Locations across the United States are involved in the effort of recognizing and remembering military veterans who passed away with a wreath at their grave site or last place of resting.

Saturday's ceremony will include local veterans groups such as the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and VFW, Boy Scout Troop 125, and a Rochester High School student, Shannon Sheldrick, performing "Taps."
