• Terry Martin Bertl (houghtonlakeresorter.com) — Roscommon residents are invited to pay their respects to 78-year-old Terry Martin Bertl, with visitation and a funeral set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors in Roscommon. A longtime area resident born in Grayling, he is remembered for his love of family, motorcycling, and helping others, and leaves a large extended family across Roscommon and nearby communities.
   

• Mary Katherine Thompson (houghtonlakeresorter.com) — Roscommon friends and neighbors are mourning the passing of 59-year-old Mary Katherine Thompson, who died at home on Dec. 7 surrounded by family. A private remembrance is planned, with arrangements handled by Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors in Roscommon. She leaves behind her husband Thomas, children including a son in Roscommon, and many grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
   

• Mary Margaret 'Peggy' Ripke (houghtonlakeresorter.com) — Roscommon-area residents are mourning Mary Margaret “Peggy” Ripke, a longtime special education teacher with Roscommon Area Public Schools and volunteer with the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office. The 78-year-old former Backus Township supervisor died Dec. 6 in Maple Valley; cremation has taken place and a private graveside service is planned in West Virginia. Her family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
