2 People Found Dead Inside Royal Oak Township Hotel: Police

Michigan State Police said the case remains under investigation and autopsies ​are planned.

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, MI — Michigan State Police found two bodies inside a hotel in Royal Oak Township on Sunday morning.

Police said they called to the Baymont Hotel on 8 Mile just before 9 a.m. in reference to a medical event.

Once inside the hotel room, police said they found a 44-year-old man from Lansing and a 21-year- old woman from Georgia.

Paramedics pronounced the pair dead at the scene, police confirmed. A drug overdose is suspected.

According to state police, a witness told officers that the two did cocaine overnight. When she woke up, she found the young woman on the bathroom floor getting sick. She helped her out of the bathroom and went back to sleep.

When she woke up again around 8:40 a.m., she told officers that the man and woman were both unresponsive.

The case remains under investigation and autopsies are scheduled, police said.
