5 Things To Do This Weekend in Royal Oak
Here's a rundown of Metro Detroit activities to add to your weekend schedule.

ROYAL OAK, MI — TGIF Royal Oak! Here are a few weekend activities in the Metro Detroit area to check out:
1. Spend Veteran's Day at the park. Oakland County Parks and Recreation is offering free park entry on Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. Here's your full park list: Addison Oaks Park/Day Use, Highland Oaks, Independence Oaks Park, Lyon Oaks Park/Day Use, Lyon Oaks Dog Park, Orion Oaks Park/Day Use, Orion Oaks Dog Park, Red Oaks Dog Park, Rose Oaks. Park hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset, or as posted at the park.
2. There's still room at the table for you at Royal Oak Restaurant Week - the last supper is Nov. 13! Over 20 restaurants are offering three course meals starting at $15. Bring your appetite and click here for more info.

3. In the mood for some Detroit history? Hit up a screening of the documentary "Made In the Motor City" by filmmaker Bill Kubota on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Detroit Historical Museum at 3 p.m. For an extra dose of Detroit, check out the author meet and greet before the show (12 p.m. - 3 p.m.) with writers who have penned books about Detroit made-products.
4. Take your holiday craft game to the next level at Home Depot's free DIY Holiday Centerpiece workshop. Learn how to use a circular saw, brad nailer and tools of the trade to create a holly jolly centerpiece. Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m at Home Depot ( 1177 Coolidge Highway, Troy). 5. Want to add some awesome to your weekend? The Detroit Institute of Arts hosts the Detroit Institute of Awesome on the weekends for kiddos and adults to have museum family fun. This weekend's awesome agenda includes an artist demonstration of ribbon scarf weaving with Michael Daitch.
