Noose Found in Bathroom Stall at Royal Oak Middle School: Superintendent
The shocking discovery at Royal Oak Middle School comes just a week after the school was embroiled in political controversy.

ROYAL OAK, MI — What appeared to be a noose was found hanging in a bathroom stall at Royal Oak Middle School, according to officials. This is the second time in a week that the middle school has found itself at the center of controversy. Just last week, the school made national news when a group of students broke into a "build the wall" chant, a nod to President-elect Donald Trump's campaign pledge to build a wall along America's border with Mexico to stop illegal immigration.
Royal Oak Schools Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin sent an email to district staff and families this afternoon notifying them about the shocking discovery of the noose. “At 2 p.m. today, teachers reported to administrators a commotion on the 3rd floor boys’ restroom of Royal Oak Middle School...The administrators who responded discovered what appeared to be a noose hanging from a bathroom stall,” he wrote.
Just last evening, Lewis-Lakin sent an email blast to students and staff pleading for tolerance, writing "Our schools must be places of respect for ALL, inclusive of race, religion, orientation, socio-economic standing or political affiliation. Bullying, harassment and intimidation – in word and/or action – are unacceptable." The email was in response to the controversy surrounding the "build the wall" incident.
