Blowing onto Woodward Avenue soon is a new cigar shop and lounge.
General Manager Jeff DeSandre said Jenuwine Cigar Factory is in the last stages of construction and is preparing to open in about three weeks at 27754 Woodward Avenue, the former site of Street Legal Customs and Pro Golf of Royal Oak.
One half of the first floor of the 2-story building will be used for retail—humidors, lighters, smoking accessories and over 1,000 varieties of cigars, including high-end, rare and vintage cigars.

"We'll have nice leather chairs and a couple of tables for guys to smoke cigars and watch a ballgame," DeSandre said.
On the other side of the first floor is a large humidor where cigars will be kept at 70 degrees and 70 percent humidity.

"If you don't keep cigars humid, they fall apart. But if you store them properly, they just get better. It's kind of like wine."
The second story of the building will be used for storage, DeSandre said.
"This space really worked out well for us," he said. "It used to be an automotive restoration shop so it was already divided in half. We really didn't have to do any building, just remodeling."
This is the third cigar shop and lounge is for the owner, Dan Jenuwine. The others are in Sterling Heights and Troy. The Sterling Heights location serves scotch, beers and other liquors. The Woodward location will not serve food or alcohol.
DeSandre, who lives in Royal Oak, said he had been eying the Woodward property for the last year and a half.
"It has a pretty big footprint and we'll be able to have some great signage right here on Woodward where there is a lot of traffic. Plus we have a big parking lot here and that makes a big difference.”
