Baldwin Theatre Historic Designation on City Commission Agenda

The city commission tackles a short agenda Monday.

At their 7:30 p.m. regular meeting at City Hall Monday, city officials have only a few items on the agenda.

Baldwin Theatre historic designation

The Baldwin Theatre will be a step closer to having historic preservation designation should the Royal Oak City Commission approve the first reading of a Baldwin Theatre Designation Historic District Ordinance Amendment.

The 372-seat theater, which was purchased by Stagecrafters in 1984 for $70,000, has undergone several renovations, including plaster repairs, restored theater seats, new lightiing and more. The Royal Oak Historic District Study Committee has determined the 1922 performing arts center meets the guidelines established by the city for historic preservation.
