
Complete Streets are streets that accommodate all users. Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and public transportation users of all ages and abilities are able to safely move along and across a complete street. The Woodward Avenue Action Association (WA3) is developing a Complete Streets Master Plan for the entire Woodward Corridor from Detroit to Pontiac and needs community input on how to make Woodward user-friendly for all citizens and modes of transportation. To get citizen input WA3 has been holding a series of free, three-day interactive community planning events. Two remain:
Monday, June 10 Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 13 for Royal Oak, Berkley, Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods Northwood Shopping Center, 30911 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak.
- Monday, June 10, 5-7pm -- Community Meeting and Complete Streets presentation
- Tuesday, June 11, 9 am – noon -- First Walking Audit (starting at Northwood Shopping Center) and Interactive Design Workshop
- Tuesday, June 11, 3 -5 pm -- Second Walking Audit (starting at the former Field Art Building, 24242 Woodward Avenue, Pleasant Ridge)
- Wednesday, June 12, 5-7 pm -- Planning Concepts Presentation: Come Hear Ideas for Your Community
- Daily from 9 am- 5 pm -- Open House for the community. Drop in and give planners your ideas.
Events have already been held in Pontiac, Ferndale, Detroit 6-8 Mile Roads, Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills; however anyone may attend the Royal Oak event.
