Exploring Memorial Park in Royal Oak

Royal Oak has many parks that your family can explore all summer long.

It’s summer and it’s time to head outdoors for playtime, picnics, relaxation and fun.

Royal Oak has plenty of neighborhood parks for your family to explore this summer.

Memorial Park, which was founded in 1939, is located at 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue. With ball fields, tennis courts, picnic area, skateboard park and play structures, it is a great place to relax or play.

With its soft rolling hills and beautiful tree setting, Memorial Park is also home to the Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair, which brings raves from art buyers, appreciative fans and professional and amateur art lovers, according to local artist Michael Byrne.

In addition, the park is also the site of the proposed $4 million Michigan World War II Legacy Memorial. It was selected for its proximity to Detroit and major freeways, which will give the memorial exposure to the masses.

For more information on the memorial, which is designed to be a place where future generations can learn about the more than 600,000 Michigan residents who served in the armed services in World War II, click here.
