If you own a dog in Royal Oak, be ready for a knock on the door in the near future. The dog census begins on July 1 to ensure all dogs are licensed and have their rabies shots.
Pet Supplies Plus, located at 29402 Woodward Ave., offers free rabies vaccinations during VIP Pet Care Clinics on Sundays in June from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Dog owners should bring a copy of their pet's records. No appointment is necessary.
To apply for a dog license, you can visit the City Clerk’s Office, or print out the application at http://www.ci.royal-oak.mi.us/portal/webfm_send/83 and mail it in. A copy of valid rabies vaccination certificate and a copy / proof of spay/neuter is required at the time of application.
To avoid a $20 penalty, residents should apply for a license in June.
