Graffiti-Spraying Suspects Hit Royal Oak Businesses

Two Royal Oak men were arrested for defacing several businesses near 14 Mile and Crooks roads.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Two Royal Oak men are facing felony charges after allegedly spray painting graffiti on businesses in the 14 Mile and Crooks Road area on Sept. 19. Keith Howard, 22, and Carson Matlock, 21 are charged with felony malicious destruction of property causing from $200 to $1000 in damage, according to a Royal Oak Tribune report.

“Investigators said the vandalism had no connection with racist graffiti left on vehicles, fences and garage doors two days earlier by a mentally disturbed man that led to an anti-hate march in the city Wednesday. No charges are being sought against that suspect, and authorities are seeking to place him in a long-term treatment facility.”
“Each of the suspects was jailed on $5,000 cash bond for painting graffiti and causing malicious destruction of property, in addition to other charges, at their arraignment before Royal Oak 44th District Judge Jamie Wittenberg on Wednesday.”
