Little Brothers Burgers Is Royal Oak's Best Burger Joint: Yelp

Yelp reviewers give Little Brothers Burgers high marks.

ROYAL OAK, MI — If water is the universal drink, a good burger must be the elemental food. Think about it. How many people do you know that really don’t like a good burger?

With that in mind, we went to the online review site Yelp to find out just which restaurants in Royal Oak make the best hamburgers. Now, this is a truly unscientific method, we know. So, if your favorite is left off of this list, use the comment section of Patch to tell us about that restaurant and what makes its’ burger great.

  1. Little Brothers Burgers - 201 W. Fourth Street. Yelp reviewers give Little Brothers Burgers four out of five stars overall. If it’s sliders you crave, this downtown Royal Oak restaurant is the place to go. “These are my favorite sliders in the Detroit Metro area,” wrote reviewer Carl O. of Royal Oak in a Dec. 12, 2016 review. He gave the restaurant five stars. “It's the perfect simple burger. Bun, Patty, Sauce, Pickle, Onion. I always go no onions and no one gets upset, which is really nice. Cheese is extra. fine by me. This spot isn't going to break your wallet, You'll probably break a ten.”
  2. Redcoat Tavern - 31542 Woodward Avenue. Also rated at four stars, Redcoat Tavern has drawn national praised from publications like Thrillist.com, which says the restaurant makes the nation’s ninth best burger. That ranking is no joke, according to reviewers. “Came here for the famous burgers, and they did not disappoint at all!” wrote Lindsay A. of Orlando in a May 31 review. “Ordered the traditional burger but added smoked gouda and grilled onions. The burger was juicy, flavors were so good and adding that zip sauce just elevated the burger.”
  3. Rebel Cafe - 410 S. Main Street. Rebel Cafe draws a rating of 3.5 stars from Yelp reviewers. “I believe this place has the same owners as Burgrz but was rebranded,” wrote Chris M. of Royal Oak in a March 28 review. He gave the restaurant just three stars. “I unfortunately. didn't care for their burgers but just a preference.”
  4. B Spot - 310 S. Main Street. Wrote Keith J. of Inkster in a May 10 review: “For my burger I chose the "Lola". It had cheddar cheese, pickled onions, thick bacon and a fried egg. It was very tasty and I wouldn't hesitate to order again.” He gave the restaurant four stars, although Yelp reviewers give B. Spot a 3.5 star rating overall.
  5. Comet Burger - 207 S. Main Street. Another of Royal Oak’s slider joints, Comet Burgers rates a 3.5 stars overall on Yelp. “Comet Burger is my favorite local slider shop. I have been here many, many times over the years and the quality is always consistent, “ Wrote Alan C. of Southfield in a March 16 review. “I have only ever ordered the Comet burgers with cheese with chili cheese fries. The Comet burger is a single hamburger patty with American cheese, sauteed onions, and pickles. The bun is steamed. They make them right in front of you on the grill.” He rated Comet Burger at five stars.
