Oh, Thank Heaven: It's Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven

7-Eleven is offering customers a free 7.11-ounce frozen Slurpee drink Thursday to help celebrate its 86th birthday.

The free Slurpee drink offer is available at participating 7-Eleven stores nationwide from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., while supplies last. The birthday freebie is a small-size Slurpee drink this year – almost double the size of the prior 7.11 ounce birthday drink.

7-Eleven began offering free Slurpees on July 11 on its 75th birthday in 2002, and it's become a big hit with customers,. In fact, one year the company gave out 5 million Slurpee drinks in one day.

7-Eleven first began in 1927 when a Southland Ice Company employee started selling bread, milk and eggs on a dock in a Dallas suburb. Today, the chain has 8,600 7-Eleven stores in North America and about 41,500 stores worldwide.
