Pearle Vision Shopper Asks To Try On Cartier Eyeglasses Only To Steal Another Pair And Flee Store

Also on the Royal Oak Police blotter: String of thefts including a stolen firearm, political sign and loose coins.

ROYAL OAK, MI A shopper at Pearle Vision allegedly asked to try on a pair of Cartier eyeglasses, then swiped a pair of glasses valued at $2,845 and fled the store, according to the weekly Royal Oak Police Department blotter.

The theft occurred at 32987 Woodward Ave. on Nov. 2 at 3:22 p.m. The suspect is described as a black male, 37-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 167 pounds.

Breaking and Entering

2200 block of Brockton Ave. 10-31-16, 7:00 a.m.- 4:16 p.m.: Three complaining residents report returning to their homes in the afternoon and discovering an unknown suspect(s) had entered their homes and stole items such as handbags, TV’s, several pieces of jewelry, a firearm, an IPOD and some clothing. Residents reported entry was gained through an unlocked rear window; in one case a rear window was broken.

Larceny

400 block of Altadena Ave. 10-22-16 10-22-16, 12:00 p.m.-12:55 p.m.: Complainant reports an unknown suspect(s) stole two packages delivered to the porch of his residence.

4200 block of Crooks Rd. 10-28-16, 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reports unknown suspect(s) stole a political support sign from her lawn.

1500 block of Cherokee Ave. 11-01-16, 4:16 p.m.: Complainant reports a suspect entered his garage and stole a mountain bike, several hand tools, and some loose coins from the garage. Complainant had a camera in place and captured images of the suspect.

Larceny from an Automobile

E. Third St & Williams St. 10-26-16, 4:45 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.: Complainant reports an unknown suspect stole a Dell laptop from her parked 2010 Chevrolet.

1400 block of N. Blair Ave. 10-28-16 – 10-29-16, 6:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.: Complainant reports an unknown suspect entered his unlocked 2016 Chevrolet and stole a laptop, computer accessories, and a corporate credit card.

Malicious Destruction of Property

110 block of S. Washington Ave. 10-28-16, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Complainant reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window of her parked 2016 Chevrolet.

2400 block of W. Thirteen Mile Rd. 10-28-16 – 10-29-16, 2:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.: Complainant reports parking vehicle at listed location and upon returned she discovered an unknown suspect(s) had entered the vehicle and stole a hunting rifle from the trunk.

Additional Incidents and Information

386 N. Main St. (Hamlin Corner), 10-30-16, 6:29 p.m.: Officers responded to the establishment after notification from the Royal Oak Fire Department that a non-accidental fire had been extinguished in the restroom of the location. Officers responded in conjunction with ROFD investigators and investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. Property damage was minimal and no injuries were reported. 16-38833
