A man suspected of a home-invasion robbery in the 1000 block of Iroquois Boulevard got away from officers Thursday morning, according to the Royal Oak Police Department.
A resident returning home from work at about 3 a.m. heard someone walking around the second floor of his home and went across the street to call police.
A man was spotted coming out the front door as officers were securing the exterior of the residence. The man fled on foot when he was confronted by police, according to a press release. The Madison Heights K-9 unit arrived to assist Royal Oak officers but the man was not located.
The suspect is described as white, medium build, 5-feet 8-inches to 6-feet tall, 175 pounds, 20-25 years-old with dark hair. He was wearing a baseball hat, gray T-shirt, blue jean shorts and white athletic shoes, police said.
Royal Oak officers were able to recover the resident's stolen property and a handgun stolen from a vehicle the previous day in Rochester Hills, police said.
Police believe the man may also be responsible for another home invasion and a breaking and entering of a detached garage in the 1000 block of Iroquois.
Anyone with information should contact the Royal Oak Police at 248-246-3500.
