Bra~vo intimates of Royal Oak will host Bras For Paws on Friday, August 9 from 3-8 pm. The event, which will be held at 517 S. Washington Avenue in downtown Royal Oak, will help the Royal Oak Animal Shelter - a no-kill rescue facility that relies solely on donations and adoption fees. While many area shelters euthanize animals that aren’t adopted quickly, the Royal Oak Animal Shelter continues to house rescue animals –some of whom wait for anywhere from six months to upwards of a year to be adopted.
During this event, Bra~vo intimates will donate $5 of every bra purchased to the Royal Oak Animal Shelter. Additionally, the Bra~vo intimates team will showcase photos and bios of animals awaiting adoption. The goal is to raise $500, as well as find parents for gentle and deserving animals in need of a loving home –like Clare, a 2-year-old feline who’s been waiting at the shelter since February. Their newest addition – Raco – is a ten-year-old Mountain Cur mix, who was dropped off nearly three months ago and eagerly awaits a new home where he can spend his golden years.
“This is near and dear to my heart,” said Rebecca Aughton, owner of Bra~vo intimates and long-time supporter of Royal Oak’s no-kill shelter. “Bra~vo intimates is very linked and committed to this cause,” she explained. “The women who work at the shelter are so incredibly devoted and the personality and habits of these animals is well known. None of these animals should have to live in a shelter.”
All of Aughton’s dogs are rescue animals, including her beloved golden retriever, Chloe, whom Aughton rescued from a pound when the dog was just six weeks old. Chloe was an icon at Bra~vo intimates, happily greeting customers up until her death in 2011. Aughton’s long-term goal is to create “Chloe’s Fund” to provide free spay and neuter services at the Royal Oak Animal Shelter. “It’s so we eventually don’t need animal shelters because every animal is wanted and cared for,” Aughton said.
Patrons attending the event who adopt a pet from the shelter by Sunday, August 11 will receive a basket from Bra~vo intimates filled with goodies, such as gift certificates and pet products. Supporters unable to make the event can still donate by visiting www.bravointimates.com and clicking on the Braws For Paws donation button.
