Royal Oak Street Projects Close To Done

Work on Batavia Avenue and several other projects will soon be finished.

ROYAL OAK, MI — With fall officially here, may of Royal Oak street projects are nearing completion. City officials say that restoration work will continue through September and into October. Here’s a quick update of where projects stand:

Batavia Avenue
The contractor plans to pave Batavia with asphalt on Wednesday September 27th. Residents will be able to access their driveways during the paving work, but there may be slight delays while waiting for equipment to move. Sod restoration work is tentatively scheduled for the following week.

Dallas Avenue
The contractor will place the remaining concrete at Lenox and Stephenson today and also the driveway approaches for the church. The remaining driveway approaches and sidewalk on Dallas are scheduled to be poured on September 29th.

Lockwood Avenue
The contractor plans to finish removing the road and will place the stone road base early during the week of September 25th. Concrete placement for the roadway is tentatively scheduled for the end of that week.

The contractor is finishing placement of topsoil on the completed streets, and plans to wait until the weather cools down in another week before placing sod.

Public Alley - 14 Mile Road to Rochester Road (behind businesses)
The contractor has scheduled milling of the asphalt within the driveways and parking lot for Wednesday September 27th. The parking lot will be paved in two phases on Thursdayand Friday to allow half the lot for parking each day.

Orchard Grove Drive
The road is now open to traffic. The contractor has scheduled driveway and sidewalk replacements for Friday September 29th.

The contractor is finishing placement of topsoil on the completed streets, and plans to wait until the weather cools down in another week before placing new sod and replacing dead sod from earlier in the summer.

Concrete Street Repairs

The contractor will begin work on Hickory, Marais and Galpin Avenue during the week of September 25th. The contractor has several punch-list items on various streets, which will be addressed after the remaining three streets have been completed.

Sidewalk Improvement Program

If you would like to sign up for the Payment Plan, instead of receiving a one-time full invoice, the deadline is September 30, 2017. Sign up forms are available at the Engineering counter at city hall or at www.romi.gov/sidewalks
