Barb McAllister of Royal Oak was awarded the Individual Volunteer of the Year Award for her years of hard work during the charity’s annual Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, counting kettle donations, helping prepare Christmas meals for more than 200 people each day for a week during the Christmas season. She’s also been honored for her work with various fundraisers for the character building and world service programs. Her biggest contribution has been noted for her care over senior citizens through The Salvation Army’s Royal Oak Corps. Whether visiting at home or in the hospital, McAllister made it a personal mission to take individuals to doctor’s appointments, help run errands and handle personal business all while keeping corps officers informed and updated.
