Turtle Busted for Sunbathing in Royal Oak

The Animal Control Officer is looking for a home for this wild guy.

A turtle spotted sunbathing on N. Center Street in Royal Oak was hauled away by the animal control officer today.

"Because I was afraid one of the delivery trucks would run him over, I called animal control and she picked him up by the tail and was going to find a home for him," said Laura Harrison, owner of Ladybug Craft Shoppe. "He or she was not happy."

Harrison said the turtle was approximately 12-inches in diameter, covered with dirt and grass and did not belong to any of the neighbors she talked to.

"I think Mr. Turtle was having a big adventure," Harrison said.
