Week Ahead: State of the City, Speed Networking, Nature Walk and More
There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week.

It's a busy week in Royal Oak, as usual. What do you have planned?
Here are five things you should know as you go about your week:
1. State of the City on Tuesday: Mayor Jim Ellison will deliver his annual State of the City address at the Royal Oak Rotary Club meeting at noon. The Rotary Club meets at the Royal Oak Woman's Club building, 404 S Pleasant St., Royal Oak. Tickets for the luncheon are $15 and are available to anyone. 2. Summer Concert at St. Mary on Wednesday: St. Mary kicks off its summer concert series with Sin Hielo (Latin, Jazz-Rock) The free concert starts at 7 p.m. on the lawn in front of the St. Mary parish office at 730 S Lafayette Avenue.
3. Art Explored "Live" on Thursday: The Detroit School of Rock & Pop, Michael Mars & the God Particle (Futuristic Electronic) and Duende (Country Rock) are the music lineup for Thursday's free concert in front of the Royal Oak Public Library. There will also be a fashion show provided by Noir Leather. Click here for show times.
4. Speed Network event at Hamlin Corner on Thursday: CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Detroit is hosting a CREW + You speed networking event for local professionals at the new Hamlin Corner, 386 N. Main Street. CREW Detroit Member and Dale Carnegie Instructor Alicia Buisst will guide members and nonmembers through fast-paced networking over hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. 5. Friends of Fungi Nature Walk on Saturday: The recently formed club, Royal Oak Nature Society Friends of Fungi, is holding its first walk on Saturday. The group will meet at the parking lot at Lexington and Marais at 9:45 am. Mary Fredricks, a member and botanist/mycologist of the Royal Oak Nature Society, will lead the walk. Anyone with an interest in learning more about mushrooms and other fungi of the urban woods is welcome.
