What's Coming, What's Going and What's Moving Around Royal Oak

There are lots of changes going on around Royal Oak. Here's a quick rundown:

What's coming or here?

• Yogurt City, 122 S. Main: Michigan's fifth Yogurt City opened on Main Street in January.
• Detroit Dogs, 200 W. Fifth: No word yet when the gourmet hot dog eatery will open.
• The Gallery of Royal Oak, 617 S. Washington: A new gallery featuring the works of local artists opened in December in the former Walker Crawford paint store on Washington.
• Sabrage, Bistro 82, 401 S. Lafayette: A new Europeon-style restaurant and the handsome ultra-lounge plan to open in February.

What's going or gone?

• Barnes & Noble, 500 S. Main: The bookseller's days are numbered according to Royal Oak's director of planning. (The bookseller has received a 90-day eviction notice, according the Tim Thwing, director of planning.)
• Incognito, 323 S. Main: Hip Main Street retailer announced it was closing in December
• Ariana Gallery, 119 S. Main: The Main Street gallery has shut its doors.
• Franklin Fine Wine, 511 S. Main: The convenience grocery store with beer and wine sales is leaving after year run.
• Cold Creamery, 420 S. Main: Ice cream devotees were disappointed to learn the store closed its doors.

What's moving around or being renovated?

• Metals in Time, 400 S. Main: The fine jeweler will move into the former Incognito building.
• What Crepe? 317 S. Washington: Signs on the Washington Avenue business announce a rebirth of the creperie into a wine bar in the spring/summer of 2014. 
• Beirut Palace, 105 S. Main: The Middle Eastern eatery will relocate into the former Pizza Rustica space. 
• Blackfinn, 530 S. Main: The popular pub is temporarily closed while it goes through complete interior and exterior updates. It's expected to reopen Feb. 27.
• Jolly Pumpkin, no location yet: Jolly Pumpkin developers have given up on the former Citizens Bank building site located at 218 S. Main but not on Royal Oak.
