• New Sandusky officer to work in school (mihomepaper.com) — Sandusky residents will see a new face in the halls this January, as officer Matt Washe becomes the dedicated school resource officer for Sandusky Community Schools. After several years with the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, he’ll split his time between the 180-day school year and regular city patrols, a move local leaders say is a strong fit for students’ needs.

• McKenney takes first at Ryan Mercer Memorial (mihomepaper.com) — Sandusky wrestling fans have plenty to cheer about as junior Ryan McKenney dominated the Ryan Mercer Memorial Invitational, taking first at 175 pounds and remaining unbeaten at 11-0. Fellow Sandusky standouts, including Victor Venetis and several Wolves competing in Big Thumb Conference duals, added strong performances that highlight the program’s growing depth against regional rivals.
