• City eyes $1.5 million Elizabeth Street repairs (wilcoxnewspapers.com) — Saugatuck City Council has hired engineers to plan roughly $1.5 million in Elizabeth Street repairs over the next few years, including work in front of Saugatuck Middle/High School. The project will tackle aging pavement, sidewalks, and underground utilities, with extra community input to address trees, elevations, and neighborhood impacts. Residents and school representatives will be invited into the planning process.

• Saugatuck Public Schools purchases new 50-acre property (wzzm13.com) — Saugatuck Public Schools has bought 50 acres next to Douglas Community Church and is asking local residents to help decide how the land should be used. Ideas include a community recreation center, athletic fields, pickleball courts, walking paths, and a new home for the bus fleet. Planning will roll out over the coming months under the district’s long-term strategic and parks plans.

• Holland hoops rallies for double-overtime win; Saugatuck girls win (hollandsentinel.com) — Saugatuck girls basketball opened its season with a strong fourth-quarter surge, turning a two-point lead into a 61-44 win over Wyoming Potter’s House behind 21 points from Mylah Simpson. Coach Kevin Tringali praised his guards’ composure and highlighted key rebounds from undersized guard Penny Grob, while Holland’s boys team earned its first win in a double-overtime thriller.
