• Michigan faces critical shortage of youth care facilities, forcing out-of-state placements (upnorthlive.com) — A statewide shortage of youth treatment beds is pushing Michigan kids into out-of-state facilities, and one local teen was first held at the Sault Tribe Youth Facility in St. Ignace while courts searched for an opening. Lawmakers say residential bed capacity has plunged from 1,200 to under 400, blaming restrictive policies and calling for urgent reforms so children can receive care closer to home.
