2 Dead In I-94 Crash In Metro Detroit: Police

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Two men are dead after a crash on Interstate 94 in Macomb County over the weekend, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes on the freeway near 8 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores, according to police.

Witnesses told troopers the driver was driving "recklessly" when he lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree, according to police.

Troopers found the driver, a 40-year-old man from St. Clair Shores and his passenger, a 26-year-old man from Clinton Township, dead at the scene, according to police.

Police did not report any other injuries in the crash.

No other details were released.

"When you get behind the wheel of a vehicle you are responsible for everyone on the road," First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "We continue to see the same risky driving behaviors lead to preventable crashes and deaths on Michigan roads. Please slow down, don’t drive distracted or impaired."
