GFL Environmental Draws City Council's Ire

St. Clair Shores council members told GFL its trucks often block streets. A number of other problems were raised.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — GFL Environmental recently got an earful from upset St. Clair Shores City Council members on a variety of issues, including trucks that block streets and employees that break trash cans. For its part, the company said it’s working to improve service and deal with employees that aren’t conscientious, according to a C & G Newspapers report.

“Speaking on behalf of GFL, Don Barretta said that trucks are not supposed to block traffic on the street. “There are some times when it is unavoidable (due to parked cars or other obstructions), but they should not intentionally block the street,” he said.
“The frustration, for me, comes from (the fact that) the issue of blocking the street has been brought up,” said Councilman Peter Rubino. “It’s happened to me, personally, on Cedar. It happened to (Councilman) Ron (Frederick). “Some of these complaints are very, very recent.”
