Girl, 12, Snatched From Sidewalk, Raped Inside Metro Detroit Home: Police
Police believe there may be additional victims.
EASTPOINTE, MI — A 52-year-old man has been arrested after police said he raped a 12-year-old girl inside a metro Detroit home earlier this week.
The incident happened between 10 and 11 a.m. Monday at a home in the 14000 block of Crescentwood Ave. in Eastpointe, according to police.
Classes in the school district were closed that day for professional development, so the girl had no school and her parents were at work, according to police.

Police said the man, who is a registered sex offender, snatched the young girl from the sidewalk and took her back to his home where he raped her.
He then let the girl go and she went to a neighbor for help, according to police.

They then called police who quickly searched the home, but the man had fled, according to police.
While searching the home, officers found evidence there could be additional victims.
Investigators tracked the man to an area outside Buffalo, New York, where he was arrested Tuesday, roughly 24 hours after the incident happened, according to police.
Police did not immediately identify the man. It was also unclear when he will be extradited back to Michigan to face charges.
"It is extremely disturbing -- the fact that we have a young girl that’s walking on the sidewalk and gets approached and then goes through the traumatic experience that she had to go through," Eastpointe Police Chief Corey Haines said.
