Muthana then approached the 15-year-old girl and touched her buttocks while forcing his hand into her pants, prosecutors said.

The girl kicked Muthana in the groin and got away from him, prosecutors said.

Officers later arrested Muthana in connection with the assault.

"I commend the bravery of the young victim and survivor of the confrontation," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said. "I praise the quick work of law enforcement for apprehending this offender. My office remains dedicated to protecting our children, seeking justice for victims, and holding offenders accountable in a court of law."
