Man Dead After Getting Hit By 2 Cars On I-94 In Macomb County: Police

Police believe a driver who struck the man was driving drunk and was arrested in connection with the crash.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A man is dead after he was hit by two cars on Interstate 94 in Macomb County on Thursday, according to Michigan State Police.

The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 near 10 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores, according to police.

Police said a 35-year-old Detroit man crashed his car on the freeway. He then got out of his car and was on the left shoulder when a driver lost control and hit him, according to police.

The man landed in the left lane where he was struck by another car, according to police.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police.

Police believe the first driver who struck the victim, a 30-year-old Detroit man, was driving drunk. He was arrested in connection with the crash, according to police.

The second driver cooperated with investigators and was released at the scene.

Police were still investigating and waiting for toxicology reports.

No other details were released.

"It is important to remember to stay in your vehicle with your seat belt buckled," First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "It is very dangerous to stand on the freeway. We are also reminding drivers to not get behind the wheel impaired. This crash was very preventable."
