MUSICAL RETURN OF MS. CYNTHIA
OHRT TO LAKE SHORE HIGH
SCHOOL

The St. Clair Shores Community Chorus
is pleased to announce the musical
return of Ms. Cynthia Ohrt to Lake
Shore High School for our upcoming
Christmas concert as well as next year’s
Spring Concert.
It is very exciting for Ms. Ohrt to return
to Lake Shore High School, as well as
many of her former students, who are
current chorus members.
Ms. Ohrt retired from LSPS after 38
years, and led her students to win
numerous awards. She was named
Teacher of the Year in 1989 and 1999.
She introduced a Special Education
Music Class for all levels of special
needs students. She also developed
curriculum to allow students to earn Fine
Arts credits for high school graduation,
and therefore, the Shorian Singers
Show Choir became a part of the LSHS
approved curriculum in 1988.

MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

The St. Clair Shores Community Chorus
annually awards a scholarship to a
music student attending Macomb
Community College. This year’s
recipient is Allyson Nash.
Allyson is President of The Macombers,
and she has an impressive background
in music.
She was involved in show choir and
musicals at Dakota High School,
including Footloose, Beauty and the
Beast, and Les Miserable.
After she finishes at MCC, she wants to
participate in the Disney College
Program and then transfer to a
university to complete her degree. She
would like to become a full time music
teacher.
Allyson will be a featured soloist at the
chorus’ Christmas Concert on
December 3rd.
