Relative Of Victim In Detroit Area McDonald's Fatal Stabbing Tries Bringing Knives Into Court: Reports
The court hearing was temporarily paused Friday morning.
EASTPOINTE, MI — A Friday morning court hearing for a woman accused of stabbing a Macomb County McDonald's employee to death was disrupted when a relative of the victim tried bringing knives into the courtroom, according to local reports.
The preliminary hearing was for 26-year-old Afeni Badu Muhammad, who was charged in the fatal stabbing of 39-year-old Jennifer "Jamma" Harris at the restaurant in Eastpointe.
Muhammad, from Eastpointe, was charged with first-degree murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and being a habitual offender-second notice. She was placed in jail with a $25 million bond.

When prosecutors played graphic video of the incident, a relative of Harris left the courtroom and grabbed two knives from her car, according to local reports.
She then tried bringing the knives into the courtroom where officers tackled and handcuffed her, according to local reports.

The judge then told the victim's family to leave the courthouse and barred them from watching the remainder of the hearing.
The stabbing incident happened on July 10 at an Eastpointe McDonald's where Harris had worked for 15 years. Prosecutors said Harris sent Muhammad, an employee at the restaurant, home before the end of her scheduled shift after the two got into a fight.
Muhammad returned to the restaurant through the employee entrance a few hours later with a knife and wearing a mask, prosecutors said.
Muhammad then stabbed Harris multiple times, prosecutors said.
A customer at the drive-through window fired a shot from his gun to try and stop the attack, prosecutors said.
No one was struck by the bullet, but it did stop the attack, prosecutors said.
Muhammad then ran to her car, but the armed customer (who was legally carrying a gun), held her at gunpoint until officers arrived, prosecutors said.
