St. Clair Shores To Spend $2M On Sewer Cleanup

St. Clair Shores is hoping to avoid future flooding and sewer problems by cleaning the system.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — In an effort to avoid future flooding and sewer problems, St. Clair Shores City Council recently approved the cleaning and televising of the city’s sanitary sewer system. The project will be completed within about a year at a cost of about $2 million, according to a C & G Newspapers report.

"City Council approved three contracts to have St. Clair Shores’ entire length of sanitary sewers cleaned and televised, breaking the city up into three sections: Eight Mile Road to 10 Mile Road, 10 Mile Road to 12 Mile Road, and then 12 Mile Road to 14 Mile Road."
“There is another technology out there for cameraing the sewers once they’ve been cleaned. We are working on a pilot project to bring that back in,” City Manager Mike Smith said, explaining that it requires less manpower to run. “What we could do in those areas where we have the heavy cleaning or notes of the heavy tree intrusions ... in a year or two, we can send that technology down.”
