EASTPOINTE, MI — A 26-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing at a metro Detroit McDonald's Thursday, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Police said 39-year-old Jennifer "Jamma" Harris was stabbed to death by a co-worker after a fight at the restaurant.

If bond is posted, Muhammad must wear a steel cuff tether, report daily to community corrections, no drug or alcohol use with testing, no contact with any of the victim’s family, and cannot return to McDonald’s.

The incident happened just before 8 a.m. at a McDonald's in the 17900 block of 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Muhammad was sent home from her job before the end of her scheduled shift at the restaurant after she got into a fight with Harris.

Muhammad returned to the restaurant through the employee entrance a few hours later with a knife and wearing a mask, prosecutors said.

Muhammad then stabbed Harris multiple times, prosecutors said.

A customer at the drive-through window fired a shot from his gun to try and stop the attack, prosecutors said.

No one was struck by the bullet, but it did stop the attack, prosecutors said.

Muhammad then ran to her car, but the armed customer (who was legally carrying a gun), held her at gunpoint until officers arrived, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Harris was taken to a nearby hospital where she died. She was the mother of six children and had worked at the McDonald’s restaurant for 15 years, prosecutors said.

"It is deeply troubling that we continue to see violence used as a response to conflict. How have we reached a point where, for some, the solution to a disagreement or problem is to pick up a weapon instead of finding a way to resolve differences peacefully? This should not be normal, and it must not be accepted as the status quo," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
