The woman, who suffered a severe leg injury, was taken to a nearby hospital, and city officials are praising the officers’ quick, coordinated response as life-saving.

Judge orders psychiatric evaluation for man accused of trying to kidnap 2 kids in Macomb County (wxyz.com) — Sterling Heights residents are closely watching a Macomb County case where a man is accused of attempting to abduct a 7-year-old in the city, in addition to another incident in Clinton Township. A judge has now ordered an independent psychiatric evaluation after an insanity plea, with families of the children pushing for accountability and a full court process.

Woman faces murder-conspiracy charge in Macomb Twp. businessman shooting (macombdaily.com) — A Sterling Heights man is among three people now facing conspiracy to commit first-degree murder charges tied to an October ambush shooting of a Macomb Township businessman. Prosecutors say the case grew out of suspected embezzlement at the victim’s business, and the trio is due in 41A District Court in Shelby Township this week as the investigation continues.
   

4. Eastpointe tabs Edwin McDonald as next football coach (macombdaily.com) — Sterling Heights football is being moved down to the MAC Bronze Division alongside Eastpointe in 2026, aiming to face similarly struggling programs. Eastpointe has hired longtime local coach Edwin “Rock” McDonald to rebuild its depleted roster and revive a team that’s gone 4-40 over five seasons, including a lone win this fall over winless Sterling Heights.
   

5. Aquarium, lakeshore paper mill could benefit from expanded ‘transformational' incentives (crainsgrandrapids.com) — Sterling Heights officials joined Detroit and Macomb County leaders in backing a major expansion of Michigan’s transformational brownfield incentives, which could unlock billions more for redevelopment projects statewide. Lawmakers are debating raising the cap and adding new requirements for affordable housing, childcare and small-business support, potentially affecting future redevelopment opportunities in Sterling Heights and across Michigan.
