Athens High vs. Waterford Mott for Boys Hoops District Title on Friday

The Troy Athens High varsity basketball team will play for their first district championship since 2000 on Friday night after beating Pontiac in the district semifinals Wednesday night.

Athens topped Pontiac, 71-67, in the first game of a doubleheader at Troy High on Wednesday night. The Red Hawks will return to Troy to play Waterford Mott for the district 29 title on Friday night at 7 p.m. 

Waterford Mott defeated Troy in the second game Wednesday night, 60-39.

The district 29 champion will play the winner of Friday night's tilt between Bloomfield Hills Lahser and Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory.

Semifinals and finals will be at the Breslin Center in East Lansing from March 21-23.
