Foodtruck Cafe Serves Up a Side of Whimsy in Berkley
The much-anticipated Foodtruck Cafe opened Monday in Berkley to diners' delight.Owner Kerry Johnson said it was smooth sailing as the family-friendly venue that embraces the growing popularity of food trucks welcomed its first customers.
The eatery at the former Coffee Beanery location on Woodward Avenue offers the following three options under one roof.
- Sideshow Sandwich Emporium features sandwiches with Coney Island-themed names, including unusual options such as "The Conundrum" made with smoked bacon, avocado, Tater Tots, tomato, onions and mayo.
- Nacho Ordinary Nachos offers a variety of options to top the traditional chips-and-cheese dish, as well as other Mexican-inspired favorites.
- Air-stream Coffee serves Illy brand coffee, as well as limited breakfast options, out of a booth decorated to look like the back half of an Airstream trailer.
Rochester Coffee Expert Shares Benefits of Pour-Over Brewing Method
If you'd like to get the most out of your coffee experience but don't have a lot of time to spend in the morning, consider using the pour-over method, advises the coffee expert at Dessert Oasis in downtown Rochester.The coffee takes just short of five minutes to prepare, said Nathan Hamood, whose shop at 36 Main in Rochester will soon offer pour-over kits for sale. "It makes sure we're extracting the coffee in a much better way, essentially," he said.
Beers, Bands Highlight Rochester Mills' Beach Bash
Beer fans (and their families) hit the "beach" Friday at Rochester Mills Beer Company.The brewery and restaurant is celebrating its 15th anniversary with an expanded "beach bash," which offers a sandpit on the restaurant floor, tappings of special bourbon barrel-aged brews and weekend-long happy hour specials.
The two-day event also features live music, and Boogie Dynamite headlined Friday's festivities.Â
Troy Tim Hortons Offers Space to Job Seekers
The Michigan Economic Development Corp. and Tim Hortons restaurants are teaming up to host a live MiVirtualCareerFair event on June 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. online and at participating restaurants around Michigan. Tim Hortons Troy at 3331 Rochester Road is one of the four locations from around the state, including Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Saginaw.Talent Connect and Michigan Works staff will be on hand to provide advice and feedback on resumes, interview tips and answer questions. Computers will also be available and connected to Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop’s free Wi-Fi, allowing participants to upload their resume to the mitalent.org website and connect with participating companies at the virtual event.
