The five Troy Patch winners — , , , and — chose a variety of orchestral instruments as their favorites, earning them each a pair of tickets to Thursday's DSO concert in Southfield.

"I love the French horn," Ponder commented.
"I love the trumpet," commented Forster, who said she has played trumpet for 18 years. "It can be loud and showy, quiet and melancholy, jazzy, pompous, supportive throughout and commanding. ... When the trumpets all rise and a tight fanfare sweeps over you, well, the whole audience shares in a good case of goose bumps."

Binkowski agreed, saying, "I'm also going with the trumpet, since I played it through college."
