Larcenies, Drunken Driving Reported to Troy Police

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Credit, Check, Identity Theft, Other Fraud

3000 block of Cedar Crest, May 29: Complainant reports that three unauthorized purchases were made using his credit union debit card number. All three purchases were made in Columbus, OH.   

Larcenies from Autos

1000 block of Banmoor, June 3, 1-6 a.m.: Complainant reports the wires to the fuel pump were cut and ¾ of a tank of gas was stolen from his vehicle. There are no suspects.  

Larcenies

1000 block of Axtell, May 29-30, 5 p.m.-9 a.m. Complainant reports the lock/cable securing his bicycle was cut and the silver Giant Sedona was stolen from the basement of his apartment building.

Therapeutic Rehabilitation Center (1709 John R), Nov. 1, 2012-June 3: A copper sprinkler valve was stolen from the exterior of the building.

Metzler, Locricchio, Serra and Company (1800 W. Big Beaver), Dec. 1, 2012–June 4: An $800 backflow vacuum breaker for the lawn irrigation system was stolen from the exterior of the building.

Century 21 Town & Country (4820 Rochester), Jan. 1-June 1: A $700 lawn sprinkler system vacuum breaker was cut off and stolen from the exterior of the building. 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs

Livernois and E. Maple, June 3 11:40 a.m.: A Troy Officer stopped a vehicle which was weaving. The vehicle ran over the right curb when it came to a stop. The driver, a 53-year-old Clawson woman, stumbled when getting out of her vehicle. An empty pint of vodka and 3 different prescription controlled substances were found in her vehicle. She admitted she did not have a prescription for at least one of the medications. After failing sobriety tests, she was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of Schedule 4 narcotics. Breath test results were .12 percent. The Clawson resident has one prior conviction for drinking and driving.  

Interstate-75 and Crooks, June 3, 6:04 p.m.: Troy Officers responded to a two car non-injury accident. Witnesses reported the at-fault vehicle fished-tailed on the entrance ramp and crossed all three lanes of the freeway, colliding with a vehicle which was southbound on I-75. The at-fault driver smelled of intoxicants, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. Following an investigation, the 39-year-old Southfield man was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent.

Interstate-75 and W. Big Beaver, June 4, 8:57 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area when a report was received in which a vehicle had been swerving all over the roadway then had gone into the ditch. Officers arrived and found the vehicle in the median side ditch south of Big Beaver. The driver stated he was not injured. The 41-year-old Sterling Heights male had glassy eyes, slow/slurred speech and smelled of intoxicants. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .17 percent. The arresting officer later learned the arrestee had left his place of employment just prior to the accident on I-75. When driving out of the office parking lot, the arrestee had backed into a light pole, knocking it over, and drove over the grass. 

Rochester and Charrington, June 5, 1:43 a.m.: A Troy Officer stopped a vehicle which was weaving and made contact with the driver. The officer noted the driver smelled of intoxicants and had glassy/bloodshot eyes. The 40-year-old Findlay, Ohio resident failed all five sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .20 percent. 

Malicious Destruction of Property

Martell Elementary School, 5666 Livernois, June 1-2: A concrete slab and a playground slide were defaced with spray paint. 

Retail Fraud

Kroger, 1237 Coolidge Hwy., June 3, 7:40 p.m.: A 27-year-old Warren man was arrested for retail fraud after shoplifting 3 packs of Red Bull energy drink. The 27-year-old has several prior arrests for retail fraud. The retail value of the stolen merchandise is $255.85. 

Vandalism

W. South Blvd. and Crooks, June 5, 1:45 a.m.: Complainant states he was driving on South Blvd west of Crooks when he heard three pops. He discovered his vehicle had been struck by three orange paint balls. There was no permanent damage.
