Man Takes Off Running with Shoes at Mr. Alan's

Police said a man stole sneakers and took off running.

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department on Tuesday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Fraud

  • A manager at Mr. Alan's (348 W. 14 Mile Rd., Troy) reports that a man took a pair of Cole Haan sneakers worth more than $210 and left the store without paying for them on Sunday afternoon. When the manager returned the man and the sneakers were gone. The suspect was last seen running through Sears. He is described as a man in his early thirties, 5’10” tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing round glasses, a black jacket, blue jeans and Timberland boots.
  • Troy Police arrested a Hazel Park woman for second-degree retail fraud on Friday evening at Nordstrom Rack (822 E. Big Beaver Rd., Troy). Police said that the woman, 30, shoplifted 15 pieces of merchandise worth more than $480 by hiding them in her purse.
  • Troy Police arrested a man from Pontiac with an outstanding warrant for second-degree retail fraud at JCPenney (700 W. 14 Mile Rd., Troy) on Friday night. Police said that the man, 20, worked with his girlfriend, a 19-year-old from Pontiac, to take a backpack and shirt from the store without paying for it. The woman was issued a citation for third-degree retail fraud and released at the scene.
  • Troy Police arrested a Pontiac woman for third-degree retail fraud on Saturday afternoon at Sephora (2800 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy). Police said that the woman, 37, shoplifted 10 makeup items worth more than $315.
  • Troy Police arrested a man from Detroit with an outstanding warrant for third-degree retail fraud at Neiman Marcus (2705 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy) on Saturday evening. Police said that the man, 24, shoved a pair of jeans worth $169 down his pants and left the store without paying for it.
  • Troy Police arrested a Southfield woman, 19, for third-degree retail fraud on Sunday night after they said that she shoplifted seven items worth more than $195 from Kohl's (1265 Coolidge Hwy., Troy).

Malicious Destruction of Property

  • Two tires were slashed on a Hyundai Sonata parked at the 1000 block of Kirts between Saturday and Sunday, according to police. 

Larcenies from Autos

  • A man on the 2000 block of Lovington reports that the catalytic converter was cut off and stolen from his Honda CR-V between Feb. 22-28.
  • A man on the 3000 block of Root reports that someone entered his Ford Escape and stole several cell phone cables, 2 Bluetooth headsets, a USB speaker and an iPod Touch between Friday night and Saturday morning. There were no signs of forced entry and the complainant states that the vehicle may have been left unlocked. 
  • A man at Embassy Suites (850 Tower, Troy) reports reports that the driver’s side window on his Chrysler was broken out and the in-dash navigation system, clothing and cologne was stolen between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
