Oakland County Crime Blotter: Man Hit With Baseball Bat At Park

Deputies are seeking information after a man was hit in the head with a baseball bat.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department. The following events took place between 7 a.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.

Death Investigation, Addison Township

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating the death of an 18-year-old Davisburg woman who was found unresponsive at a home in Addison Township around 11:32 p.m. Sunday.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies and the Addison Township Fire Department went to a home on Army Road after someone found the woman and called 911, deputies said. Deputies said they found the woman dead but with no signs of trauma. The person who called 911 was the victim's grandfather, deputies said. The victim had a long history with drug addiction, deputies said. Drug paraphernalia and drugs were found at the scene, deputies said.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office began its investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Malicious Destruction of Police Equipment, Resisting Arrest, Orion Township

A 33-year-old Orion man was arrested after drunkenly causing a disturbance and kicking and damaging the door of a police car around 4 p.m. Monday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the 700 block of Vernita because a man was refusing to leave a home and was causing a disturbance, deputies said. The caller said a friend had arrived to her home the night before because he could not stay at his relatives’ home, deputies said. The man was drunk, threatening her and refusing to leave the house, deputies said.

Deputies found the man outside of the home, drunk and screaming, deputies said. The man refused to leave the area and continued to be loud and physically threatening toward deputies, according to deputies. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct and placed into the backseat of a police car, deputies said. The man laid on his side and refused to sit up before beginning to kick the door and scream, deputies said. Orion Fire Department was called to check on the man as he had passed out, deputies said. The man was transported to McLaren Hospital by Orion Fire Department for medical clearance, deputies said. The man was cleared and transported to the Oakland County Jail pending issuance of charges, deputies said.

Shooting, Pontiac

Oakland County Sheriff's Detectives said they are searching for the person who shot a 31-year-old Pontiac man around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to McLaren Hospital - Oakland following the report of a man with a gunshot wound to his left calf, deputies said. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim who said that he had been at a park located in the area of Cherry Lawn Dr. and W. Hopkins Ave., sitting at a picnic table with a friend when an unknown person shot in his direction, striking him on his left calf, deputies said. The victim got a ride to the hospital and was dropped off, deputies said. The victim did not have any information as to the identity of the shooter or as to why someone would shoot at him, deputies said. He was evasive and less than cooperative, deputies said.

The incident remains under investigation, deputies said. The victim was listed in stable condition, deputies said.

Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Pontiac

Oakland County Sheriff's detectives said they are seeking information after a 31-year-old Pontiac man was assaulted around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies responded to Aaron Perry Park located off Edison St. near Marquette St. following a report of a large fight between several people, deputies said. One person was reportedly struck on his head with a baseball bat and was lying on the ground bleeding, deputies said. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim laying on the ground on the baseball field, deputies said. The subject was bleeding heavily from a head wound, deputies said. Witnesses told detectives that there was a baseball game between two Pontiac teams that are part of an adult recreational baseball league, deputies said. At the end of the game, several people began to argue, resulting in the victim being assaulted with a baseball bat, deputies said. None of the witnesses were able to identify the suspect, deputies said. The victim was also not able to name who had hit him with the baseball bat, deputies said.

Paramedics from Star EMS transported the victim to McLaren Hospital - Oakland where he was listed in critical but stable condition, deputies said. Detectives were already at the hospital on an unrelated matter and attempted to interview the victim but were unable to do so due to his injuries, deputies said. The incident remains under investigation.
