Oakland County Crime Blotter: Shots Fired In Oakland Township
Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies said they responded to a shots fired call, a near-drowning and a concealed weapons violation.
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and relate to incidents that took place between 7 a.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.
Shots Fired, Oakland Township
Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the 100 block of Cherry Drive around 12:34 a.m. Monday following the report of shots being fired at a home in the area from a moving vehicle. The caller reported that he was driving west on Cherry when he saw a vehicle that had its headlights off driving east, deputies said. The caller said they heard six or seven shots fired from the vehicle.

Deputies said they found several 9 m.m. shell casings near the area of the shooting. The occupied home that had been fired upon was not struck by bullets, deputies said. A neighbor reported seeing a gold colored Saturn Ion leaving the scene at a high rate of speed, although it is not known if the vehicle was involved, deputies said.
Medical/Near Drowning, Oakland Township

Oakland County deputies said they responded to the 2300 block of Rising Gate Ct. around 7 p.m. Sunday on a report of a medical and possible downing. The caller reported that her husband, a 62-year-old Oakland Township man, went for a swim in their in-ground pool and she found him floating in the water unresponsive minutes later, deputies said. The victim was pulled out of the pool, 911 was called and CPR began, deputies said.
A pulse was regained on the victim at the scene, deputies said. The Oakland Township Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition, deputies said.
Concealed Weapons Violation, Independence Township
An Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy said they pulled over a vehicle on Dixie Highway, north of M-15, around 2:30 a.m. Monday. The driver, a 24-year-old Flint man, was asked for his license and paperwork, deputies said, and when he reached over and opened the glove box, the deputy saw a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun in it.
The handgun did not have a magazine inserted but had one round chambered, deputies said. During a search of the vehicle, two fully loaded 9mm magazines were discovered in the driver’s door armrest and map pouch, deputies said. The driver said the handgun was his and that he did not have a concealed weapons permit, according to deputies. The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending issuance of charges, deputies said, while the passenger, a 23-year-old Flint man, was released at the scene.
