OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A week after announcing public pools would be closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Oakland County has rescinded the order effective June 8.

The move was made in order to align with the new emergency order in Michigan, which lifted its stay-home order Monday.

Last week it was announced that all swimming pools licensed by the City of Detroit Health Department, Wayne County Public Health Division, Oakland County Health Division and Macomb County Health Department would close indefinitely.

The orders were issued under the Michigan Public Health Code to safeguard Southeast Michigan residents from the spread of the coronavirus. Pool operators were to continue scheduled maintenance at the pools, however. Macomb County also announced Tuesday it was rescinding its order.
