Man Accused of Assaulting Kona Grill Valet; Driver Admits to Smoking Marijuana

Troy Police officers responded to the Kona Grill Wednesday evening for reports of an assault. According to the police report, a man swore at the valet and then charged him, knocking him to the ground. The man then began punching the valet in the face, according to the report.
The man left the area on foot and was apprehended by officers in a nearby office building. The 43-year-old man from Sterling Heights, who police say was intoxicated at the time of the alleged assault, was arrested for assault and battery, according to the report.
Man admits to smoking marijuana before driving
A Troy Police officer investigating a commercial vehicle violation Wednesday afternoon near Big Beaver and Daley noticed the cab of the truck smelled strongly of marijuana, according to a police report.

The officer noticed the truck's driver had bloodshot eyes; the officer found marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to the report.
The 27-year-old Royal Oak resident admitted to "smoking marijuana," according to the report, and was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana. Results of a blood test are pending, according to the report.

Man suspected of using illegal drugs before causing head-on collision
Charges are pending against a 35-year-old Troy man who is suspected of being under the influence of drugs when the vehicle he was driving crossed over the center lane on Wattles Road near Forge Wednesday afternoon, striking another vehicle head-on, according to a Troy Police report.
Both the suspect and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report. A witness told Troy officers that the suspect's vehicle had been swerving before the collision.
The suspect had "track marks" on his arm "from suspected IV drug use" and was disoriented and vomiting after the collision, according to the report. A blood test was administered at the hospital, and results are pending.
Home invasions and larcenies:
- A resident on the 1000 block of Troywood reported that someone kicked or pried open the back door to his home Wednesday night or Thursday morning and stole cash, jewelry and coins.
- A woman visiting the United States from Australia reported Wednesday afternoon that someone had stolen her wallet, which contained cash, credit cards and her iPhone, from her shopping cart while she was shopping at Nordstrom Rack*. Â
- A woman on the 500 block of East Square Lake reported Thursday morning that someone had stolen from her front porch a package containing a laptop computer she had ordered online.
