Man Bites Mall Security Officer; Business Receives Fraudulent $11,187 Phone Bill

officers responded Thursday afternoon to a report of mall security fighting with a male subject outside at . When officers arrived, the man was in custody.

The 22-year-old man from Chesterfield, who was accused of stealing two pairs of pants and a belt, bit a loss prevention officer when the officer attempted to detain him. Two loss prevention officers received minor injuries while apprehending the suspect, who was later charged with retail fraud in the first degree.

Business receives fraudulent $11,187 phone bill

A representative from . recently filed a report with Troy Police after receiving the company's December 2011 phone bill, which showed that someone had made 500 phone calls to Libya totaling $11,187.93.

Men charged after allegedly stealing air conditioner from home

A Troy Police officer on patrol just after midnight Thursday noticed a suspicious pickup truck in the driveway of a home near Waterfall and Big Beaver. When the vehicle drove away, the officer noticed a large air-conditioning unit in the bed of the truck.

The officer pulled the vehicle over, and the driver fled on foot; the passenger remained in the car, and the driver was soon apprehended by a K-9 unit, which tracked the man to a nearby subdivision. Both men were arrested and charged with larceny over $1,000 and for possession of burglary tools.

Police apprehend men seen rummaging through vehicles

Troy Police responded Wednesday night to a report of a suspicious vehicle on the 3000 block of Bellows. A witness observed a vehicle without headlights traveling through the neighborhood and saw someone exit the vehicle and rummage through an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle. The occupants, two 20-year-old men from Sterling Heights, were found to be in possession of a Garmin GPS unit and ankle weights, which were found to be stolen from residents in the area. Both were arrested for larceny from an auto, and the driver was also arrested for aiding and abetting a criminal.
