Man Ditches Taxi Without Paying; Tires Stolen Off Tahoe During Night

A man who had taken a taxi to Troy from Rochester Hills Monday evening ditched the cab without paying the driver after arriving at his destination near Kirts and Somerset, according to .
The Troy Police officer called the Rochester Hills home where the man had been picked up in an attempt to identify the suspect. A man answered and said he didn't know why his friend would do something that foolish. When the taxi driver returned to the Rochester Hills home, the resident paid him in full and left "a nice tip," according to a Troy Police report.
Man sells iPhone, receives counterfeit bills
A man trying to sell his iPhone put an ad on Craigslist to help find a buyer. On Monday afternoon, he met with a man in the parking lot, where he received $450 in counterfeit bills during the transaction. The suspect left in a gold Ford Taurus with an off-white front fender.Â

Suspect pries open door, steals cash from coats while resident sleepsÂ
A resident on the 1000 block of Enterprise reported Monday morning that he found his front door ajar when he awoke that morning. All of the coats hanging in the foyer had been thrown on the ground, and he discovered cash missing from one of his coat pockets. Police found a pry mark on the front door from where the intruder gained entry.
Tires stolen off Tahoe during night
A resident on the 5000 block of Patterson reported Monday morning that all four tires on his 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe had been stolen and his vehicle was now up on cement blocks in his driveway.

Two drivers arrested for operating while intoxicated
A 31-year-old man from Sterling Heights was arrested for operating while intoxicated early Monday morning rear-ending another vehicle near Maple and Dequindre roads. The driver of the vehicle he hit reported to Troy Police officers upon their arrival that the driver of the at-fault vehicle was "very wobbly on his feet." Preliminary breath test results were .27 percent – more than three times the legal limit of .08.
A 22-year-old man from Waterford was arrested for operating while intoxicated early Tuesday morning after a Troy Police officer observed his vehicle driving erratically on southbound Interstate 75. The man performed poorly on sobriety tests and his preliminary breath test results were .19 percent.
Police catch thieves stealing from business
A Troy Police officer on patrol noticed a suspicious van backed up to in Troy late Monday night. The officer saw a man lifting a metal chip hopper into the van before the van fled the scene.
The officer stopped the van and discovered the driver and another male occupant inside. A representative of the business verified the men had stolen the metal chip hopper and both men were arrested for larceny. The 39-year-old man from Alden, MI, also had an outstanding warrant for unpaid child support; the 39-year-old man from Eastpointe was also charged with driving while license suspended.
