Suspected Drunken Driver Passes Out; Thieves Steal Catalytic Converters

Following are highlights of recent Troy Police Department reports:

'Man over the wheel' arrested

Troy Police officers responded to the area of Crooks and Maple on Saturday evening after receiving a report of a "man over the wheel," according to a police report.

A concerned citizen who had pulled up next to the vehicle before police arrived told officers the driver was "out cold." A Troy officer reached into the vehicle and put it in park; when the driver woke up, he did not know where he was, according to the report.

After an investigation by Troy Police, the 26-year-old Troy resident was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.

Thieves take office equipment from business

A representative from People Plus reported Sunday that someone had stolen a substantial amount of office equipment from the business over the weekend. Stolen items include computer towers, servers, a copier, fax machine and telephones. The items were stolen from two separate suites, one of which had fresh pry marks on the door.

Numerous catalytic converters stolen

Several individuals recently reported the following catalytic converter thefts:

  • Two catalytic converters were stolen Friday from employee vehicles parked at Delphi.
  • Two catalytic converters were stolen from employees' vehicles Friday morning at Northfield Office Park.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a woman's Chevrolet Venture on Friday at North Troy Corporate Park.
  • Two individuals also parked at North Troy Corporate Park reported their catalytic converters stolen Friday. It was the second time one of the employees had the catalytic converter stolen from her car while it was parked in the North Troy Corporate Park parking lot, according to the police report.

Vandals target mailboxes, vehicle in same neighborhood

Vandals attacked four mailboxes on the 500 block of Tanner between Friday night and Saturday morning, according to Troy Police. In the same subdivision, a resident also reported someone smashed in the rear window of his vehicle.

Stolen car found in restaurant parking lot weeks later

A Troy officer responding to a report that a car had been left in the 's parking lot for two weeks discovered that the Pontiac G6 had been reported lost or stolen in Sterling Heights. The vehicle was impounded and the Sterling Heights Police Department notified.
