Revised Transit Center Resolution Pulled from City Council Agenda

Troy City Council will not vote on a tonight due to the expected absence of Councilman Wade Fleming.

“I sent an email to (City Manager) John Szerlag asking him to pull my resolution for tonight’s meeting due to Fleming being out of state due to a family emergency," Councilman Dane Slater said late Monday morning.

"Councilman Slater spoke with Councilman Wade Fleming this morning," Cindy Stewart, director of community affairs for the city of Troy, confirmed in an email late Monday morning.

"Fleming told Slater that he will not be attending tonight's City Council meeting due to a family emergency. When Councilman Slater has a date certain of Councilman Fleming's return, they will ask for a special meeting on this item."

On Dec. 19, council in the amount of $8.4 million for the federally funded transit center. The revised proposal, submitted by Slater, would lower the cost of the transit center to $6.27 million.

Because the project is time-sensitive and an agreement could not be reached in December, Slater said he hopes to have council vote on the resolution as soon as possible.

"I’m waiting to here from (Fleming) when he expects to be available, then I’ll ask for a special meeting," Slater said.

Other items on the Troy City Council's agenda will still be considered, including:

• a proposal to postpone a  after an investigation by Troy Police uncovered multiple ordinance violations at the massage parlor. 
• Mayor Janice Daniels' recommended changes in the rules of procedures
