State Champs! Troy Girls Soccer Comes Back to Win

Seniors Madison Hirsch and Kayla Porter each scored to lead Troy to victory over Grandville.

Perhaps it was only a matter of time for the Troy High School girls varsity soccer team to win the state championship game.

After falling in the past two seasons prior, the Colts did not their third straight opportunity slip away, beating Grandville on Saturday in Williamston for the Div. 1 state title.

STATE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was the tweet from Troy High Principal Mark Dziatczak (@MDZLeadership).

The Colts (15-6-3) came back from an early one-goal deficit to win, 2-1, the Detroit Free Press reports. Seniors Madison Hirsch and Kayla Porter scored at 21:35 and 26:29, respectively.

The champions join fellow Troy champs from 1994 and 2003 as the best in the state.
