Summer Blockbuster Means More 'Movie Mix' at Ingram's Candies
The sweet and salty combination is a top seller at the Troy fine candy store.
What's the secret to Beth Ingram's delicious Movie Mix? The salty-sweet bestseller of Ingram's Fine Candies in Troy is held together with a thick layer of melted caramel which keeps it all together before it goes in our mouths.
"We're very generous with it. We put a nice, thick layer on there so it doesn't crumble as you're eating it," said Ingram, a Troy resident, adding that she started candy making as a hobby before moving to wholesale and then, last fall, retail.
"Movie Mix was made a long time now and it's still our best seller," she said. "It's not overly sweet, it's not overly chewy."
The Ingrams are a champion of the small business community in Troy after starting out by selling to local, high-end grocery stores and the Beaumont Hospital gift shop. The candy shop has donated its time and goods to area fundraisers and received the Critic's Choice award for Best Dessert at the 21st annual Taste of Troy in March.
Movie Mix sells at a half pound for $8.99. Visit the store at 1117 E. Long Lake Rd. or on Facebook.Â
